Sun Offers Tool That Provides Its Java nytimes.com

As old Colonel Klink would say, "verrrrry interesting". Sun's Java VM embedded in an ActiveX control, keeping your browser in sync with the current version. As decided by the standard bearer, not the embracer and extender/demolisher. As the article points out, irony abounds here. We'll see about this one, I always wondered how Java could ever move forward with all the old browsers with embedded out-of-date JVM's around, and why it wasn't external to the browser in the first place.

Cheers, Dan.

P.S. No comment on Columbo, I got to review the evidence. This OVIS/RMIL thing still sounds fishy to me though, 25k posts here in 2 months?

Daniel,

I'm not sure that you realize what Columbo perpetrated on the RMIL board so let me fill you in. First of all someone somewhere must have agitated him about something, god only knows what it was. With his knowedge of Front Page he went into the companys web site and found a database of 22 shareholders names and addresses. He then went and posted the link to this site along with some derogatory statements about those shareholders being a bunch of SAPS.

I complained to the company about this and had them password protect the whole web site. Then the next day Columbo goes back to get into the web site again. He couldn't get into it and got mad. So what did he do in his infinite wisdom? He posted all of the names and addresses of these people from the private list he had stolen and again made derogatory statements toward them.

In addition to this on a several occasions he not only made personal attacks on some of the shareholders but also proceeded to slander the company.

This COLUMBO is one deranged individual and doesn't deserve the right to post on SI ever again. Several of us can and will pursue legal action against him if we recieve any harassement from his actions.

By the way these posts have been removed by Jill.

Just thought you should know this before you spread a plea around the SI boards to help bring him back.

Sincerely,
Mike
