Just look at the scientist's only 6% are Republican's and and 80% lean dem and 65% are liberal or very liberal. Speaking from personal experience, everyone that I deal with tends to be highly educated. Since there are both right wingers and lefties in the mix, I don't see education as some kind of liberal indoctrination engine, despite some right wing propaganda to that effect. Just as well, you can take a look Bushes (both of them), Koch brothers, Kristol, etc. They are neither dumb nor uneducated. As to your cited statistics, assuming it is correct, it still does not prove your point. It is more likely that the kind of person who pursues an academic career is also more likely to have liberal leanings. At some point in time you will have to distinguish between being "educated" and "indoctrinated" as well as the old nature vs nurture debate. Again, based on personal anecdotal experience, I know of many people who were brought up and educated in one side only to switch to the opposite after relatively brief exposure. IMO, politics is an area where nature outshines nurture. Finally, I do not dispute that mind can be sharpened just as the body can. But to extend the analogy, just because someone is an athlete and very fit, does not mean they are also very much a "sportsman" and follow the associated ethics...being educated does not make you a liberal person. In fact some of the most "liberal" societies you find are made up of primitive isolated tribes. =================== Anyway, this has gone on for too long... later, ST
