Helping people does not make them dependent. That is a myth perpetrated by greedy insensitive people. who don't know better or don't care. I and all my friends made it out of the streets and into the universities because we had help from our society when I was young. Student work programs, almost free tuition, affordable loan programs. And we ended up with good degrees and so got good jobs and none of us needed or took any welfare for the rest of our lives. The Republican's misguidedly took all that away from the kids. And so they and society are suffering today. You have it figured wrong.
