That's a sad article to read. Being originally from Texas, which once was a very (D) state, I grew up with both my mom and grandmother telling me what selfish assholes Republicans were, that despite anything they said, they were the party of the wealthy and those were the people they represented.

They both loved FDR and saw him as a savior of working class Americans, and the Democrats as the party of working class Americans. So many people who lived through the depression, believed those things and felt that way are dead now, and as a result, Texas is now a deep red state, but that seems to be slowly shifting.

I hope somehow, West Virginia can hang on to it's (D)'s.
