Mel thanks for the update I was thinking of the open coo position. I was quite surprised by the 4000 items. Marshall and Dennis must have all their rooms full by now. When do you leave the canal? It must be quite an adjustment after all these years.

I felt the interview was very positive. Schushler was right out front about the company "Not a fad" Our restaurants intertain folks from age three to one hundred and three. take care John

Hi Mel,

How big is the MGM Gand RFC going to be? Huge if the number of messages generated about it on Dejanews are any barometer. I like to monitor the RFC messages on Dejanews to read how non-shareholders feel about the restaurants. Almost all the posts on RFC are generated by a Disney newsgroup. There's usually 1 or 2 messages generated a day by this newsgroup. Briefly a Washington dining newgroup snobbily complained of service at Tyson's when it first opened but there has been nothing to speak of posted on any other unit but the Disney RFC. However in the last three days there have been 16 messages posted about the opening of the RFC at MGM Grand on the alt.vacation las vegas newsgoup. To me this suggests not only a lot of business there but also the MGM Grand Unit will generate a tremendous amount of public awareness of the Rainforest Cafe in general. Here's a few sample posts:

The food was pretty much what you would expect from a theme chain such as
Hard Rock, Planet Hollywood, All Star etc. I had a 1/2 lb bacon
cheeseburger that was pretty tasty. My wife had a pasta dish with
chicken that was just OK. The rest of our table had a variety of
sandwiches and pastas and the overall impression of the meal was pretty
good. Prices were between $6 and $14 for a sandwich to a nice pasta
dish. I did really enjoy the strawberry/grape (?) smoothie I had. Yum.

I will say that it was PACKED the night we went. It's the first
restaurant I have ever been to where you had to wait in a roped off line
just to put your name in! They give you a "passport" that has a few menu
items on it and assign a jungle themed party name. They then call the
party name (amazon, party of four, your journey is about to begin...)
when it is your time to be seated.

It is a fun atmosphere and is well worth a trip to check it out. Once
you get there, you can decide for yourself of you would return. I
probably wouldn't unless I was with another couple that wanted to
experience it.
