Well, at the time, I'd just sold my house in S. Cal. and was very prosperous. I was thinking of doing computer consulting over the internet, which might mean hoteling at a customer's site, or just doing the work at home and delivering via the internet.

I really liked Arcata though. It had a town square, a lot of coffee shops, a local university, and seemed like a totally hippie town.

While I was there, I met a young man in the town square, carrying on his own singular protest, as his sign said "Property is a CRIME!". I advised him that here in America, he wasn't going to find a lot of support.
