The machinists who voted 'no' can simply quit working for Boeing and get the better jobs elsewhere that they have on offer. So everyone will be happy. Or perhaps, actually, they were bluffing and they are really worth only about $15,000 per year.

The skill sets that they have take years to develop.

You have to have an FAA license (Mechanics) to build an aircraft and that takes a number of years to apprentice on before you qualify for a license. Practical and written test required along with the "time".

That's why it's taking Boeing's new division down in South Carolina so long to get up to speed..
