Paul,
<Asia is going to be a convenient scapegoat for missed estimates> I couldn't agree with you more. I think ORCL was very lucky that they could put so much blame on an external factor when in reality it was probably much more of an internal issue. IMO, a very company specific issue which unfortunately will impact the stock prices of many other companies in the near term. Though I thought PSFT held up very well today given everything that is going on! I was able to buy back the covered calls I wrote last week at an ok profit when the stock dropped to around 33 so that at least was something positive(for me).
Melissa

The lack of qualified consultants is a BIG issue with PeopleSoft, however it has not affected the bottom line yet. PeopleSoft has continued to sell big deals, usually touting themselves as the lead implementor. However, when they don't have the resources to deliver, they have been relying on companies like mine to partner with to deliver the implementation. I don't think that you'll see consulting resources constrain sales anytime soon. PeopleSoft has recently landed a couple of big Financial services firms that you will see showing up in the new releases soon. These companies buying the PeopleSoft product right now, don't realize that there is a consultant shortage because the PeopleSoft sales people do a good job of making this a non-issue.

Sorry for a delayed response Paul, but I thought I'd let you know that PeopleSoft 7, the latest release of PeopleSoft, has decertified Oracle 8 as a database platform. Most of the Oracle customers that I have talked to are staying away from Oracle8 until they come out with a "stable" platform. The stability may be a perception, but it is certainly delaying a majority of the PeopleSoft customers from upgrading. FYI, I have worked with Oracle8, and when everyone figures it out, it will be a hot seller. PeopleSoft 7 is supposed to deliver 3-tier performance, however Oracle 8 delivers near 3-tier performance without the 3-tier cost!
