That ADC thing sounds like "mutated fiber-channel, crossed with IP switching" Perhaps people will buy into it because the name "Fast Ether Ring" sounds cooler than "fiber channel"? Also, it sounds like a MAN, not a LAN solution. I dunno...sounds brave, but extremely non-standard. Anyone else?

Just a few comments:
<<ADC Telecommunications Announces Breakthrough in Ethernet Technology>>
All by itself ADC did this...I thought networking was based on standards? There's plenty of breakthroughs around, and so few standards. Throw the Gigabit Ethernet standard in the garbage!

<<Establishes New Standard for High Speed Data Transmission and Deliverability Over Ring Networks >>
The heck with the standards for Gig Ether and other stuff the rest of the world is working on, ADC Telecommunications has invented their own standard. This will surely unseat every company, starting with Cisco.
