"It's simply more of the us against them destructive political culture." The people that benefit from this are the elite 5% with the money, that pull the strings behind the Republican party. They want a paralyzed Federal government, the better to exploit it. They don't want tax reform, income redistribution, or working Americans to get a fair slice of the pie. To me, the job for (D)'s is to HIRE some people like Frank Luntz. He invented "death tax" as a reframing of the inheritance tax for the Republicans, and coined "job creators" as a relabeling of wealthy, undertaxed people. He's not personally ideological, is just a hired gun, and has openly wondered why the (D)'s have never hired him. My dad was in the influencing (advertising & public relations) business, and it was a science in his day. It's rocket science now. commondreams.org They need to convince working (R)'s that they've been voting against their own self-interest for years. They're failing miserably.
