It is a shame that we had to pay for this announcement many times over. Hopefully tomorrows open will be the bottom.

Any after trading quotes?

<<I wish Quantum would have announced this before. Now we will get
hammered again. It would have been nice to hear this news when the stock was 35 then a
sell off to 22 would have been an over reaction.

I agree - perhaps they did not fully know the full details. In any case, I am almost entirely positive that if they had announced w/ everyone else (SEG, WDC) that there would have been less speculation - and less falling (IMO).

Oh well, that's the past and this is now. Bad news is all out - that's good.

I know it's extremely painful to find your favorite investment sandbagged. But mark my words, 18 to low teens in less than two weeks. What's more, there's no chance QNTM will return anywhere near your FEB strike prices even by next summer.

How do I know? Just look at the facts. What's the 52-week low? 12 and something, right? Well, QNTM's earnings of 25-30 cents this quarter is even LESS than the same quarter a year ago. Go figure!

For you shorters, I'd say QNTM is fair game any time it sticks its head over 20.

Well, I won't EVEN try to speculate on tomorrow morning's action, but meltdowns and overcorrections can and do occur. I remember watching Seagate about 8 years ago drop from $44 to $3.50. When it hit $25, I'm sure everybody said it would NEVER hit $15 a share.

Based on historical data, in FY94 and FY95, Quantum dropped to a PE of 5. Both years had positive, but generally declining, earnings for all quarters, similar to now. Based on $2.10 per share (the last three quarters plus the current quarter's estimate), that translates to $10.50 per share.

I don't believe it will go this low, but this is a theoretical possibility based on historical PE lows for Quantum during similar profit patterns.
