thread, rumors of stuffing happened last dec too.
but, they turned out not true...in fact the opposite was true
cpq was draining down inventory to make room for new prodcut including the sub k pc and lower priced deskpros/
cpq knew they couldn't have massive amts. of inventory that was sold at higher prices and then release these lower priced pcs.
Any inventory changes now are related to cpq's drastically reducing dealers. The dealer report in january/ february of 1996
revealed a low channel inventory in that period..
they didn't know but I did...cpq was about to release their
cyrx p166 pc.. at that price no one would buy the other stuff.
on the deskpro line they were trying to get rid of all p133 and p166's by april.may,june so they could not sell those anymore..that part didn't work
the extra demand on the few dealers left will require more inventory.
