Here is why I agree; America has adopted the failed idea that we can only succeed economically by continuously growing our economy by having a larger and larger population - largely through immigration. .......That was a great idea as long as we maintained abundant resources to exploit. We have now grabbed the easy resources and to get the rest means such a dumping of carbon into the atmosphere that we are looking down the loaded barrel of global warming. ........Because resources are more and more expensive to extract (ask Wharf about that), we have fallen into the idea - the habit - of borrowing from future generations to maintain a standard of living that we will not give up. That is done by giveaways to the poor (and to a lesser extent working middle class) and corporate America. Bigger and bigger homes with more and more stuff in them and less and less taxes for corporate America.
