Apparently, "Chicken Little" has been out of print for far too long... with entire generations having been denied exposure to the simple wisdom it contains. But, the quote is revealing, too... as it suggests that the most natural thing in the world is that we should all be seeking to "do something about"... eliminating natural variation. The con... seeks to enable consensus on the need for "doing anything about it"... whether or not there is any need, or any rational reason to do anything. Note what the links say: ceres.org " working with policy makers to pass meaningful energy and climate legislation that will enable a rapid transition to a low-carbon, 21st century economy that will create new jobs and stimulate economic growth while stabilizing our planet’s fragile climate ." Ignoring the canard in the issue of "fragility"... Reading the obvious in the tea leaves... suggests two factors, and a common core: 1. Seeking to impose control over directed economic change. Rapidly. Follow the $$$. Note the inherent elements in the political implications. 2. Seeking to generate "consensus" in a ruse to empower rapid transition (to control) enabling a government that will exercise control, first through directed change in the economy ($$$), while ultimately seeking to exercise control over the weather. Maybe they're already working on doing that... and are just trying to pre-legitimize what they're doing, and want to do... are planning on doing... long before you find out what they're doing, and planning on doing ? In spite of the apparent failures of "science" to make valid predictions... we will eventually figure out how the climate works... and, then, there will be a growing interest in and a fight that occurs over exercising control over the climate... directly... through the use of technology. How long might it take ? When will they tell us, if they figure it out ? Or, will they tell us if they figure it out ? Who will be authorized to control the global climate ? Should we make it rain in California, now... because of the drought there... if that means growing the Sahara by another couple hundred miles ? Should we make some hurricanes smaller... because they threaten wealthy enclaves, or people we like... and make others bigger... because we don't like the voting patterns or some other pattern in the behaviors of the people in the path of the storms that we control ? Will snow boarders... be given a greater say in management of the weather... than farmers ? Should we prevent it from raining on California's vineyards at the wrong time... and make it rain on the vineyards in Oregon, instead ? Should we boost the wheat crop in Russia... and let Australia's wither in drought ? It sure would be convenient... to already be "authorized" and have the power to make those decisions... before people become aware that the power to make those decisions will exist... ? So, maybe we should lie to them now... to con them into allowing up to have the control... before we have that control, or need that power ? If you gave people a KNOWING choice... between enabling global corporate control over weather... or killing everyone who was trying to exercise control over the weather... which would most people choose ? Maybe it's too early to consider those things ? Or, maybe it isn't ? Whatever "decisions" get made... you are going to be stuck with that... if those driving the process succeed.
