By doubling CO2 from 280 ppm to 560 ppm we will lower the altitude of the heating by about half. That's significant, even though the extra absorption from the extra CO2 is tiny. A non-melting glacier might melt from the extra heat.

But CO2 is not the only game on the field. Simultaneously there is the enormous water cycle which dominates climate, including clouds and snow. When it rains, megatons of greenhouse effect H20 is removed from the air, albeit temporarily because evaporation continues apace nearer the equator.

The main effect of CO2 is on plants which need CO2 to encroach on deserts and snow. The extra CO2 helps the desert plants because they need less water with more CO2. Deserts reflect incoming sunlight, but leaves absorb it, warming the air and turning the energy into cellulose etc, stored for release later by bugs and microbes eating it when it dies, or animals eating it before it dies. At the snow line, the extra CO2 helps the plants survive and absorb sunlight, heating the air and melting snow. Deciduous trees give up and their leaves die in autumn. But with bonus CO2, leaves might as well stay in business over winter, using the weak sunlight to help defeat competing deciduous trees.

Meanwhile, solar action remains the dominant force. Just as the homeopathic CO2 levels seem insignificant but are not, the variation in solar activity is tiny compared with the whole output, but it is tipping-point crucial in cloud formation and at the margins of desert and the snow. The magnetosphere is serious business.
