So when Pilate offered to let Jesus go and the people screamed "Crucify him!", that shouldn't be held against them?

OK dude.

"Sure, he was crucified at the hands of the Jews, but that is not an act that should be held against the Jews of that time, much less the Jews of today.."

Again, it's not as if the leaders of modern Judaism have ever apologized or repented for having plotted, bribed and lied to have the son of God crucified. On the contrary, modern Judaism supports the deception lies and bribery that was used to achieve the crucifixion. It was a vile an evil conspiracy that led to the crucifixion but God used this evil to achieve the greater purpose of salvation of mankind. The Jewish kangaroo court and the brutality of the Roman soldiers thought they were conducting an execution but in fact they were fulfilling God's plan to sacrifice His Son for the sins of humanity. Because we are all sinners, we all spiritually share in the guilt of the crucifixion.
