Mohan, not only does your heart go out to them your tax dollars do. Conservative bankers of the 30's criticized deposit insurance because they feared it would encourage bankers to make riskier loans. I am not advocating the removal of deposit insurance but bankers need to be more accountable when they do foolish loans. Mike

Yes Mohan, human folly where lies greed with all the other follies. Heck, greed probably isn't even the priciple one. And I have to admit, rather sadly actually, that I'm not above a little Schadenfreude myself. Speculation turned to blind feverish passion is surprised when it all comes tumbling down. Those of us who attempt this game dispassionately are not surprised. I watch the market drop and nod and say to myself that I understand this, it makes sense, it's rational and the right thing and it's there when I say it's the right thing and they should have known better and get what they deserve, it's just there that I've passed from dispassionate ground onto moral ground, a hair away from all the more folly.

I'm not above a little Schadenfreude myself, but that photograph gave me pause...for all I know that old lady had done nothing more than worked hard and saved her money. There are still alot of people like that around. Have a look at the photo if you can find it; it speaks volumes.

BTW, this is among the most well argued threads that I've found. The bear arguement makes a great deal of sense to me. As such I regard it as a personal bias. Like all bias it should be kept in check. You miss fewer rally's that way. -g- Good luck....jeff

Bonnie Bear, looks like the DDs popped the other strap today. -g-
