Yes, food and energy are volatile, they both go up too fast in response to the Fed melting the printing presses.

makes you wonder why the fed rigs the stock market during crashes. If it's so "volatile", shouldn't the Fed just ignore it?

Yes, because the Fed is so smart that they've decided that central economic planning is better than millions of actors participating in a free market. In other words, they've decided that Communism is better than Capitalism. The truth is that Keynesians like you never learned the lessons of history, and that makes you very ignorant and stupid as well.
