"Rather surprised AAPL isn't taking more of a hit today. As this info is more widely disseminated and people discuss, it could cause a sharp drop. We'll see. For those who think the Samsung releases aren't going to do much when they hit the market (perhaps because pricing will be too high), any AAPL pullback would be a great chance to buy"

I would be very surprised if Samsung prices the S5 any lower than the S4. What's the incentive? The S series has sold well (nearly 100m or so in 2013), and you seem to think that the S5 is improved enough to outsell S4, so I think they will milk the high margin business while they can. They have the lower tiers well covered with other devices in their portfolio as the market demands.

On the other hand, I'm with Slacker-- the S5 is fine, but not 5S killer by any means. I would have liked to see Apple accelerate their iPhone(s) launches this year, but I don't think they will feel pressured to do so by a lackluster Galaxy S update.

You are really reaching with your analysis. The market, as you know, is built on expectations. Nothing in this handset was above expectations.

If they had released this AND the rumored "Prime" version, then Apple likely would have taken a hit. If Samsung cuts prices (no rumors on that front), then Apple will take a hit.

The facts we know right now? It is a net positive.

a few legitimate things are driving the buzz today:
The S5 fingerprint sensor is excellent

I have to ask. Where in the world do you come to that conclusion? No reports, I have seen, say that.

Rather I run across experiences such as "we found it to be quite unreliable and virtually impossible to activate"

Just because the sensor is there, doesn't mean that it's "excellent".

I heard differently. That you have to swipe your finger/thumb exactly right or it doesn't work well. Next..
While iPhones have historically had the best resale value, *recent* trends are that Samsung phones have caught up, and might even surpass.
Besides what you stated on CNBC, I have never heard that Samsung phones have caught up with iPhones. I think that statement is laughable (IMO).

The Gear 2 watch/bands are pretty awesome. They are stealing the iWatch thunder,as Apple has missed the opportunity to be seen as the first company to release a nice wearable ......
What proof do you have they are stealing Apple's thunder??? You have none as it is pure conjecture on your part. Apple hasn't even announced an "iWatch." Although they could very well produce such a product.

Rather surprised AAPL isn't taking more of a hit today.
Why? Because of the information you wrote?????

You still haven't responded to me about your factually incorrect statement about Apple being way down in their cash! Why is that? If I am wrong I will admit it.

I am now placing you on ignore as I believe you have an agenda here on this thread and I would like to read either facts or one's opinion that is not written as fact.
