Michael, I've been pounding the table for a couple of years that CPU and RAM demand are going to be driven through the roof by PC-TV products.

It didn't unfold quite as fast as I'd expected, though. :)

I had the privledge of working on an early one. It was ironic that the company cancelled the project partly because of the high cost of RAM at the time! I felt that RAM would come down rapidly, and it did. The product used a 486 (which I felt was underpowered) and 8M of RAM (too little), and would have had to have been priced well above $500. Today it is probably a $200 or less box. (The company wound-up licencensing WebTV to make their initial entry into the arena.)

Without being specific, I can tell you that there is an awful lot of development going on in this area now, and you can expect to see many more products yet. I don't think it really all comes together until DTV, and there is going to be a very interesting battle between the traditional TV makers and the PC makers. Your next TV could well be a Gateway or a Dell - or - horrors - a Microsoft!
