Tax Reform is DEAD UPON ARRIVAL

the republican obstructionists have guaranteed it

quit wasting your breath, until the republicons have been voted out and sane people control the levers

it may be awhile

I'm for those things you mention here. They probably need to go hand in hand with meaningful tax reform.

Glad to hear it. If we could get meaningful tax reform which consisted of the items I mentioned--much larger spending on urban and rural education, much larger investments in infrastructure, much strengthened safety net, medicare for everyone, better social security benefits, etc.--and more fairness in the tax structure (less give aways to the wealthy, more progressivity), then it's a go.

Without that I think the best course of action is to protect what we have (don't compromise it away) and build a movement which would give us that in the future. That would mean a heavily controlled Democratic congress and of course the WH.

But, sitting here today, looking at what I see about to happen in the 2014 elections, that all looks like the most over ripe form of political fantasy imaginable. I keep it just to keep going; but that's about it.
