The Common Core testing will be online. So schools have to have computers now for most of their students- it would be impossible to administer the testing any other way. Our students do not take the computers home. I personally have been writing grants to try to get computers for my poor students who have no computer at home- as this is a tremendous disadvantage to them. I allow them to use mine- at lunch, before school and after school- but to even the playing field they need one at home. Comcast will let me set up free WIfi for them- they've got a program I have teamed up with- so I just need to get computers. It's hard to find grants for this though- most donors want their stuff to stay at school- and it's hard to convince them just how important these computers are for the kids.
