Ian, in Windows 8 defragging is automatic. windows.microsoft.com

Thanks, Ian. I don't think that's my problem. I have a defragger and I use it periodically.

I learned from the computer guys at work that you couldn't expect good performance if your hard drive is more than half full. Mine isn't.

I appreciate all the help I'm getting here. Thanks all.
