We were stuck forever in a world with three major religions: jewism, goodguyism (or Cowboyism), and badguyism (Indianism). You had to belong to exactly two, and one and three were not allowed. The first started with taking hikes and tablets, and Canaan; the latter two with taking Reichs and alcohol/drugs, and Conan (and John Wayne). The former had an Abe, a stranger in a foreign land and a gold bull; the latter two had an Abe, a lone ranger in a foreign land and a silver horse. Heigh Ho! There are now C(3,2) = 3 groups of people, since there are only three ways of choosing two out of three. The charm of it all is that goodguyism and badguyism have no boundaries, and nobody knows which is which, and when a choice must be made, there is a lot of song and dance and story. Disguise is why the Yankee doodle cowboy "stuck a feather in his cap".......youtube.com Now take for example how China waddled into Tibet singingyoutube.com and nobody blinked, maybe because only goodguyism and badguyism were involved. I think things would have been somehow different if the Dalai Lama's mom was jewish, and I don't mean just gefilte fish breaks after meditation. As I walk down the street I realize that I cannot tell which group anyone belongs to. Everything has morphed into everything else, sophistry is a fantastic disguise and there is no shortage of song, dance and story. I think we are stuck until we drop the song, dance and story. And while we are all singing, dancing and spellbound in story at the theater, the same undefined bunch is directing operations backstage, ransacking our homes, and writing the script and printing tickets for the next show. Sometimes dreams seem so real. :)
