re:-- Looking for stocks that are moving big by 9:30 and entering an order just before 9:30--I get burned every time I try to do something at the opening, plus almost everybody you read advises to wait until the opening blast is past. Today, I shorted AMAT about 10:05 and got out close to 4 at exactly the same price! It is frustrating not to be able to get a piece of a 4 point decline when you could tell from 9 pm the previous evening it would happen. Do you put your 9:30 a.m. order in at market? Do you always do it that way, or just when there is big news and big before the bell movement? What broker do you use?
