Good stuff as always Dennis. I wonder what our ability to build such ships is. Perhaps the requirement could be phased in as the ships become available. I assume there are some free trade agreements that might come into play.

As for Markey - he is one of the politicians on my list of complete wackos. His elevation to the Senate is a sad commentary on the Massachusetts electorate. She and Elizabeth Warren make a great pair.

While the changes would make LNG exports more expensive than using foreign tankers because no such U.S.-flagged vessels currently exist,
I haven't checked, but find this a little suprising. General Dynamics built about a dozen LNG tankers in late 70's - mid 80's in Quincy MA before closing that shipyard. They are likely near the end of their useful lives, but at least some should still be in service.
