Less, this is where I start to suspect some revision of history. From your post: All across California, groups of anglo males formed "volunteer armies" and would periodically swept down on peaceful Indian villages, indiscrimately killing women, men, and children. Really? The Indian villages were just "minding their own business" and had no intention of waging total war against the white man intruding upon their lands? The following year, the Tolowas were attacked again with hundreds of Indians murdered, all for the "crime" of taking a horse! Once again, an extraordinary claim that obviously excludes context and paints one side of the conflict as evil and the other side as purely innocent. And the U.S. Congress reimbursed the state for what was nothing less than SUBSIDIZED MURDER and GENOCIDE. An argumentative statement that sounds more like propaganda and less like objective fact. There are many more examples, but I think I've given you enough examples of why I remain skeptical of these claims of genocide. But you do make some good points about how we have waged war in the past without having to resort to this sort of "ethnic cleansing." Race and xenophobia clearly have played roles in all of this.
