There isn't much to do other than economic and diplomatic reactions. And those take time. Especially when the Europeans have so much tied up in Russia economically.

The thing is Russia's economic solvency is as much tied into Europe as Europe's is with Russia. The Russian economy is still not doing well. There is a reason why Russians are drinking themselves to death and have one of the shortest average lifespans in Europe.

The only different between Russia and the US/EU..........Putin has big ones. I think his brashness should have been met with brashness. Putin doesn't want a war. The success of his gambit hinged on western passivity. And he got exactly what he hoped for.

And we all know how that works.......there will be another Georgia or another Crimea.
