seriously??
Fact is the GOP is not in power now

the GOP has controlled Congress since 2010 and in the Senate they filibustered everything and anything they could

the GOP has been in power

they have shut down the government, costing many jobs and basically setting fire to billions of dollars through their obstructionism purely out of spite

in 2011 they caused the credit rating of the U.S. to be downgraded by their stupid game playing and caused a huge tanking of the stock market

the list is endless

someone has to have a serious case of head up ass syndrome to claim the GOP has not been in power

but nothing new for you

Of course it is a defense. You just said dems were ignoring all the problems in a previous post. Now you've changed your tune and retreated to the position that we say the GOP is worse. Well duh. This isn't a perfect world, and most of the time you are voting for the lesser evil. I'm not going to cut off my nose to spite my face. Obama has some real problems (although I'm not sure I'd think they are the same ones you think they are)- but I'd still vote dem every time, because of all the other baggage that comes with the reps. They do everything bad the dems do and more, so much more. And talk about eviscerating the middle class. Have you looked at some of the historic charts to see who does well under different political regimes in this country? You haven't a leg to stand on:

dailykos.com

A good economy is good for the middle class. Unions are good for the middle class. Obama care will probably end up being good for the middle class (because their children can be covered longer, and they don't have to fear loss of coverage and poverty due to pre-existing conditions). Education is good for the middle class. Public works programs are good for the middle class. Not contracting the debt fast is good for the middle class (as they are unlikely to weather depression easily). What party is thus good for the middle class? IMO hands down it's the dems. The republicans are, and will be for the near future, the party that hides in patriotic jingoism, but is really the party of greed and entrenched wealth- which is not to say monied interests don't have power in both parties- it's just that in the republican party you've got religion, jingoism and money worship- and not much else (and it's ironic they manage to be both greedy AND try to claim the mantle of Christ- Ayn and Christ are not happy cohabitors. Talk about your bad relationships.)
