Suggest you visit livingston.com and ascend.com. BTW, Bill C. probably has some shares in BAY. Who doesn't want LU to buy his company these days? :)

Duke, LU has terminated the OEM agreement w/ BAY. LU bought Livingston for market share and low-end RAS. But ASND's price has become too attractive to pass up. ASND is much more than a RAS co. Plz read my previous posts on the News Only thread. Do you know why NN bought UBS Networks ? for market share, not mainly for its products. Of course, remember how MCI terminated an M&A w/ BT and how AMTX terminated the M&A w/ WSTL ? MCI paid a cash penalty to BT. Likewise, AMTX paid $15MM to WSTL in favor of TI all cash offer. The synergy between LU and ASND is just too great. A M&A could be a an offensive move or defensive move. I guess LU must have come to realize that if it doesn't get ASND, someone else will. This would put LU at a competitive disadvantage. I repeat I just logically guess, not based on any fact at all.
