Tangentially, I find it very interesting that this event has cracked open an interesting new perspective on the perception of the far-reaching govt security, tracking and surveillance.

Prior to this event, had you asked 1000 people if the airlines tracked all passports against a known list and/or all all aircraft tracked real-time 'Hollywood' style by at the very least the military, I suspect the majority of the answers would be yes.

The perception of being tracked and monitored is as effective as actually doing so.

Post event, we now know 1billion people travel on forged documents annually and, considering the efforts of the global first responders, we know govt/military might not have a far reaching, real time net of surveillance as previously assumed.

The plan was to take the plane and take it to some place like Somalia.

Drop people and release them.

Sell the plane for other purposes.

Perhaps it did not work and crashed.

If pay out is big enough, there will be some copycat or even a new attempt.
