Sad but true, I read this article and I can attest that many Russians mostly those that where employed by the government or defense industry or army by its various branches are enthusiastically supporting the inclusion of Ukraine into Russia and governed from Moscow. TO them they do not even understand why Ukraine or for that matter any other Russian speaking ethnic group and the land they live on, is not part of today Russia.

Everyone opposing this type of thinking is automatically their enemy.

Most are indeed harshly nationalistic and nothing is better than Russian science or culture or you name it. Most are living in denial and blame the Americans and the West for their hardship and the essence of the idea of free markets (now those are educated people with academic credentials) . They do not forget to mention to me that many famous Jewish scientist, artist composers etc. are in fact of Russian origin.

Only today a Russian friend from the south Ural regions, mentioned George Gershwin, whose Jewish grandfather was from St. Petersburg I think, and why the Russian love his music

Many are so brainwashed if from their parents or the regime that most things that are very understandable to us are totally alien to them. One major issue I discovered is the issue of know how for them this is not worth a penny if it is not Russian the world owe them to give them free knowledge. Why I do not know.

One Russian friend of mine told that there is no ruler to measure the size of Russia and there is no human mind to fully understand Russian mentality, therefore no one is trying to understand why things are done one way or another or what is right or wrong and as such accept everything that is delegated or ordered from Moscow and this is the most interesting point. IMHO Russians are brainwashed to receive orders from above and not free thinkers.

believe nyt is talking its own book as usual
for in order for ties to rupture there must be ties to start
from the get-go there were and are no ties merit more than footnote mention
meaning while the ties are more than existing between argentina and zimbabwe, but hardly ties
