Rorty is just saying what Godel says (incompleteness theorem)- basically you can't know what's outside of the box you're in- we are in a system, and some propositions cannot be measured from inside the system. But you don't need to fill the spaces of incompleteness with religion- that makes no sense. You leave it blank- and wait. Waiting is the only thing that makes sense- leaping to guesses, and fastening on guesses with faith, could lead you to an infinite variety of wrong answers- potentially- or an infinite variety of correct answers if there is no right answer- but there's no way to know.

And that wasn't a quick quip. You did sound exactly like the folks in the creationist (or intelligent design) debate. I just wondered if you realized that. I don't think you are comfortable with their arguments, so it surprised me you would use their exact words. I hope you can understand why that is not a quip and why I mentioned it.
