Scotland will be in trouble - all of UK should vote regarding Scotland independence according to Obama and co. <I think for Britain to try to tell Russia what to do in the Crimea is like Russia telling Britain what to do in Northern Ireland.> If northern Ireland voted to join Ireland instead of UK, that would be a bad thing according to the rubbish regarding Ukraine, Russia and Crimea. All of UK should be voting on Northern Ireland and Scotland independence. Presumably the same for Quebec - it's not just a matter for Quebecois opinion. Laughable.

Crimea already has their own parliament so their autonomy has been recognized already. It's amusing watching the hypocrisy. Obama and co are hopelessly hypocritical.

Tommaso I think you totally do not understand the issue at all.

Integrity of countries cannot be changed at the will of one party and by armed forces even if there is no actual war but the mere danger of another WWIII.

If the referendum in Crimea would have been free without military intervention, and submitted for approval to the Ukrainian Parliament and approved by 2/3 or 3/4 of the voting assembly, in accordance with their constitution, then there is no problem

There was a political agreement signed in 1994 to disarm Ukraine of their nuclear weapons with political guaranties of the G7 I think. The papers signed there have same validity as the papers signed in Munchen by Chamberlain in 1938 - the value of toilet paper. (personally I feel sorry for the Ukrainians that they believed in a assembly of worthless leaders)

IN 1934 through 1938 the free world did not come together to stop a mad man envisioning a great empire for his "superior" nations at the time. This mistake resulted in around 40 millions lives lost unimaginable suffering and the maiming of much more.

Why?

Because some madman wanted to forcefully impose his concept of world order and the superiority of his doctrine and administration and the world around him and deep into Asia and Africa?

At present we are faced with a similar situation just read the fine print of the recent Russian declaration, they allude to more annexations, Georgia was the start it worked. Now Crimea if it works what else will come down the road?

Do you trust the present administration in Moscow? are you willing to vouch for them that they will not prey on other territory with "Russian speaking" citizens?
