Allen, great work.

I was thinking the same thing. I believe that any damage would
be very difficult to detect. I hope this engineer can give you a hand.

Sheila:

Have a great time and DON'T CHECK THE MARKET! This is one thing I
absolutely refuse to do on vacation. We'll keep an eye on it for you
and bring it back to the 30s for you.

Mav:

Great link! Great story!

Mr. Nelson:

Taxes: The IRS says that after you sell a stock, you MAY NOT take
advantage of the capital loss if you buy the stock OR AN OPTION TO
PURCHASE the stock within a 30 day period after you sold the stock.

By purchasing the options, you forfeited your right to take a capital
loss on your taxes...

Allen, thanks for the feedback regarding this important subject. I couldn't have been happier when I read it. If not the other drives, maybe the Zip plus would reject it? I'm curious also.

Did you read the IOM in Fooldom that I posted yesterday? It deals with IOM's patent regarding the "reflective." Once you realize that, the whole issue is dead. IOM has more than poisend the well.

Yes the internet is GREAT.

Again, thanks in advance.

Allen, you'll be able to test the disk for compatibility only.
Reliability testing - to assure it will last several 100,000
hours - takes special test setups that IMO are practical only
in manufacturing settings. I would expect that Iomega has tested
the disks that way, but it is not something you can duplicate
at home.

Nevertheless, your test will be exciting. If you ruin a ZIP
drive, I will contribute $10.- to reimburse you towards a new one.

Allen, i was thinking that it is just a ploy by nomai to give disks to non-experts like the press so that they can errouniosly validate nomai's claim that the disks work. a thorough testing requires special equipment and a special setting and it has to be done by experts in the field. i think that by going ahead with nomai's ploy one is falling in nomai's trap. i would test the disks myself but i would not make public any results because they can be misleading.

Refurbished PP Zips avail. Computer City (Orlando) for $89-$20 rebate = $69 total price. Today's add, 12/12/97.

I'd be more than happy to kick in a few bucks for your Zip replenishment fund, due to their early demise from the use of noncompatible media.
