Alex;
I'm not interesting in debating or defending Rand Pauls ideas. He is getting vetted now and it will be interesting to see how this plays out I think.

I like a flat tax idea though. In my idea of a flat tax there has to be an exemption for the first what 30? 40? thousand? Tax free no playing games with income taxes mortgage deductions and charity deductions and every sort of crappy deduction. You do know that now many of the richest among us pay NO taxes or very little taxes. So eliminate all the exemptions that congress has lavished on every single one of their special interest groups and taxes could even go up depending on the end proposal. ...........Even better would be a combination of this and a sales tax or a VAT. .............Something has to be done Alex. The idea that we are all of a sudden going to get religion and see the ever lasting light of higher taxes is just plan ass crazy. It is all going the other way - and if republicans take the senate as many are now suggesting this gets only worse. Bitching about it accomplishes nothing. Going back to the drawing boards might.

I am in favor of a real flat tax

10% of every penny earned from any source

You make $5000 a year, send in $500

You make $100,000,000. a year, send in $10,000,000

Of course that catches hundreds of thousands of highly compensated individuals who make money on cap gains and so forth, so it'll never happen

..because the pigs will never let it happen

Pay a reasonable share of income tax on all income, in your dreams
