I don't recall any supercomputer company making money in the last 25
years. Most are on the gov't dole/grant list. I almost passed this
up for that one reason, but the rest of the business should do well.
My ISP just upgraded his SGI boxes.

Mathon - let me be real honest, you haven't read the 10K. If you spent some time on the footnotes, you won't make such moronic statements.

If you're interested in the Why? of Cray, wander around PA and MV a little - the answers are obvious.

And why they -bought- themselves into the supercomputer business in the first place is beyond me. Again, questionable charter. Nothing against Cray.

SGI was in the supercomputer arena long before they bought Cray.
In fact, their R8k based Power Challenge was probably the largest competitive factor in Cray's decline. The end of the cold war being the largest market factor.

The amount of cash actually *doubled* in the last 'negative' quarter, so I wouldn't think SGI is really 'burning cash', would I?
