No. The bible portrays a Just and Loving God who loved you enough to send his Son to die for the sins of all who will receive Him.

"The old testament shows a hateful god." The OT shows a loving God working out the salvation of hateful and sinful humanity. His love of man and hatred of sin led Him to sacrifice His son on the Cross in order to heal man and transform him into the sons of God. In Christ, He gives you the opportunity to be born again of the incorruptible Word of God rather than the sinful and hateful seed of man. Through the Cross and Resurrection Christ has created an new man.
