What part of the valley? The further south from Google/Facebook you go the less insane things are but they are still nuts.
Most of the region between Cupertino in the south and Menlo Park in the north is hot in terms of real estate. That includes Palo Alto, of course, where a 1,200 ft2 house on a 5,000 ft2 plot of land is going for $1.6M.
