>>There is sure a lot of advertisments for refurbished zips. Now there is a rebate as well. I know KE said that returns were not high in past earning conf., but does anyone have thoughts on this or am I just worried because I have been beaten so badly in the past few days.<<

Roger -

There have never been refurbished Zip drives available until recently, because Iomega had the Zip on MAP, which meant that no one could advertize a price lower than the official one. I conclude that this means that Iomega simply stockpiled all returned drives for the more than two years that Zip has been on the market.

Considering that they have sold over 10 million drives in that time, even a 1 percent return rate would leave them with a significant number of units at this point.

Roger, a few weeks ago I saw over 100 refurb ZIPs stacked
in Micro Warehouse. I wonder if they are really all refurbished?

When you look back at the trading action going from 32-33 to where we are now, you can kind of tell how this happened, even in the context of a general tech sector correction (if you want to call it that - maybe it's the beginning of a tech bear). The volume on the way up was quite light, most days barely at the average and many below. I got a very definite sell signal on my charting program on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Then, there were two more the week after. We were easy pickings for short sellers because of the lack of buying pressure. I'm as guilty as anyone else of being complacent. The addition of newsletter hype and other things distracted me from what was going on. This is something we should monitor in the future, unless we're just buying and holding with no concern for the volatility. If we are vigilant, though, it's possible to trade these waves and increase the overall return.

Just some thoughts. Now I'll go back to my cage
