I know nothing about the tortoise, but that wouldn't surprise me. Same with wolves. They were exterminated for a valid reason back in the day, and now that they're being brought back they are causing trouble all over. I saw something yesterday from the family, saying that the desert tortoise being protected... is not only not "threatened" but has become enough of a nuisance that the state allows residents a DAILY quota on removing them, because they are remarkably fecund... and when they're in proximity to humans... not only does the population explode, but they're destructive of property.
