I have a much different life experience than you do. I have two daughters by two women and was divorced both times by the time the kids were five. Both turned out great. As much as any parent could want. Sane, funny, both have long term relationships and both have educations into graduate schools and are wicked smart (only because I spent my life educating them as my number one priority). I had both girls in Montessorie by 2.5 years where they prospered: en.wikipedia.org By the time they hit kindergarten they were light years ahead of the rest of the kids and stayed there their entire lives. They were always honor students and I never had to tell either to do their home work. Not once. They loved school. It was their early childhood development paying off over the long run. One got into UC Berkeley and Loyola law and the other the U of Oregon and is going to Oregon state for more this year. Both will never stopped learning as I impressed them that learning is a lifelong endeavor; and as my youngest girl (the scientist) said last night when I told her how happy I was she was embracing learning complexity (environmental science, computer science and quantitative analysis): "It makes life much more interesting when one learns what is really going on." She said. Most of my liberal friends kids went to college and did fine in life. Because liberals, above all, value education. l <<
