And what, exactly, about the legislation do you think is "bending the cost curve?" Is it the subsidies, or the additional Medicaids who are on the public dole, or what?

I think a lot is what Tim posted ... Even though he left off some of the benefits:

It seems like the CBO is projecting lower premiums because the plans will offer less - "lower payment rates for providers, narrower networks of providers, and tighter management of their subscribers’ use of health care than employment-based plans".

But there are other things. Limiting the marketing costs for insurance companies, encouraging experiments in alt systems. And I think there is just an attitude that the "party is over, we can't just raise our prices when we feel like it". The government is looking over the industries shoulder, so they are looking for ways to be more efficient, rather than passing the cost of their inefficiency on to the insurance industry, and ultimately the consumer.

And yes I know that opinion is anathema among the US government haters here, so y'all can hold the LOLs and ROTFLing posts.
