They hate common sense... Tim will segway into a tangential topic where he can show SOME semblance of logic rather than actually engage in discourse.... but then it's better than your TYPICAL wing nut, who will continue to head bang and yell at you... he at least understands at a basic level that he needs to retreat and run off to talk about something else.

I haven't given the idea a lot of thought. On the surface it doesn't sound like a bad idea (except for a bit of extra cost and inconvenience when getting SS cards), but it doesn't really seem necessary. Its not that hard to get an ID, if you expect to vote. It probably would be at least as hard to get a new SS card as to get a driver's liscence or "walker's ID" (for non-drivers). There are more DMVs around than SS offices, and at least some of them are open longer.
