Three strikes laws are stupid. They put people in prison for all sorts of completely minor felonies, and end up costing the public major bucks to imprison people who are no threat for long periods of time. They feed the prison industry, and contribute to our having more people in prison than any other country on Earth.

Again, I think we are in general agreement on this one. The way you worded your post gave me the impression that you think that ONLY the law makers were ignorant. As long as we agree that the law breaker is also ignorant, then I can agree with you. This back and forth started with me saying that anyone who breaks a "three strikes and your out" law is....by definition....stupid regardless of whether the law makes any sense or not.
