RE: <why IBM likes AMD K6> This partly has to do with fear of the Intel monopoly overpowering the server/mainframe business from which IBM still derives a substantial chunk of their revenues. Also, IBM derives royalties from the K6 even if AMD packages them, but no such relationship exists with Intel.

IBM could fab the K6 wafers couldn't they? The sell wafers to NSM/Cyrix...
So maybe, if demand dictates, they will. Still, expect IBM to
make most of the money. It's like they get a free design team with Cyrix and AMD...a very good situation. All the good and no R&D and they have lttle exposure to obsolescene.
