The nice thing about being down 15% in the contest is that it makes my mediocre real world portfolio look positively robust!

The funny thing is looking back at the results after the 1st week, as they were more impressive then these: Message 29325416

5/16/14 Contest update
I was hoping the market gnomes would celebrate my birthday week with a big biotech rally. But I guess I should be thankful they at least were nice enough not to repeat last week’s thrashing. And, at Friday’s close, the Contest median actually had a fractional gain for the week, closing Friday down -5.58% YTD (vs. down -6.24% YTD a week ago). The Nasdaq Biotech Index managed a slight gain as well, even closing up .67% YTD (vs. down -.23% YTD a week ago), with the Nasdaq Composite Index also a bit higher for the week, closing down -2.06% YTD (vs. down -2.51% YTD a week ago).
ROCKY’s portfolio, up 24.04% YTD, remained the Contest leader, with WATCHIT’s portfolio, up 19.22% YTD, holding on to second place and BIOMAV’s portfolio, up 17.43% YTD, moving back to third place.
At Friday's close, 15 of the 46 Contest portfolios were in the black, while 14 of the 46 were beating the NBI. The median Contest portfolio stock (VCYT) is down -10.55% YTD.
Below is the Top Ten list. Also below are the Top 5 & Bottom 5 Stocks ranked by % Gained and % Lost for the week. (Prices not converted to US$ in these Tables.)
Portfolio adjustments: None
(All corrections, especially adjustments for splits, greatly appreciated.)
Have a safe & fun weekend biotechies!
Peace & good health,
Bulba
P.S. I’ll be traveling for a few weeks and intend to limit my computer activity while away. So my next Contest update will likely be Friday, June 13 (or, if my triskaidekaphobia kicks in, Friday, June 20).
