Hi Wharf Rat; Re: "No; he could lease one from a third rate company run by a regulation and tax-avoiding teabagger, and have it fall from the sky because it wasn't maintained.";

Other than that it's setting up a strawman (private industry) that I never suggested, this is hilarious because the helicopter we're contracting for is being designed by the same regulation and tax avoiding corporations that design all the rest of US military aircraft, Sikorsky and Lockheed, LOL. I mean really, do you read the newspapers?

US Aerospace Giant Racks up Millions in Fines over Delayed Chopper Deal with Canadian Military
June 24, 2013
U.S. aerospace giant Sikorsky has racked up almost $86-million in penalties for failing to deliver Cyclone helicopters to Canada’s military but has yet to pay the money.
There is also still no word when the helicopters, already more than four years late, will be delivered to the Royal Canadian Air Force.

And Lockheed was the company that caused the US government to create the "Foreign Corrupt Practices Act":

Standard US military helicopters carry flares and chaff. And since they're standard issue, they're a lot cheaper, safer and more reliable. And that's why the other major countries use them.

P.S. I think it's cute to see you defending US defense contractors, LOL.
