I2,

I would agree the equipment stocks have been in a bearish trend for a couple months now but I believe the overall tech sector will be weak going forward. We might see some large blue-chip tech companies with earnings shortfalls... Forget about inflation at this juncture.. deflation perhaps...my fear is business is slowing down faster than one would have thought...Interest rates are declining...the New Year will bring on a wave of refinancing. Selected financial stocks with limited international exposure could do well in the coming year. The big questions are... will the bailout of S.Korea be effective? How long before orders are rescheduled? Will the Samsungs and Hyundais be able to obtain financing? Where will anticipated PC growth from Asia now come from? I did a little DD on S. Korea...It's a little scary to see what is happening there...it's real for the people there...jobs lost..etc. One common denominator of many of these countries is that there is very little faith in the ruling governments. Anyway I've gone on long enough...BTW, deep down, I'm a perennial bull who believes there is now $ to made on the short side in technology outside of this particular sector.

SFAM on wednesday...at this point earnings don't matter a whole lot it's what they say that counts...This company is one of my faves in the group. The recent secondary was timed very well and company is well run. This will be a test of their abilities to negotiate rough waters. Their recent CMP wins with Samsung will probably play out slower than anticipated. Unfortunately we really don't know where specifically these companies are holding off on.
