Wafers are routinely shipped half way around the world via cargo jets from the wafer fab manufacturers (U.S., Europe) to S.E. Asia for assembly.

Thia has been going on every day (except Christmas) for 30+ years.

Bill,
AMD most certainly would test the die on the wafers before sending them off to be packaged. They cannot reliably speed bin them before they are packaged though. That has to wait until IBM does their thing and either returns them to AMD or IBM tests them for their own purposes.
